The newest of Shelby County’s two distilleries, Bulleit Distillery, is committed to sustainability and recently planted more than 1 million trees to offset the wood used in their barrels. Bulleit Distillery embraces the frontier spirit with its high-rye bourbons and state-of-the-art, high-tech facilities and distillation techniques. The multi-sensory tour embraces the sights, scents, sounds, and tastes of Bulleit’s Frontier Whiskey Bourbon.

"Portal #31 Coal Mine was a facility owned by the U.S. Coal & Coke Company, a subsidiary of U.S. Steel. The company built the community of Lynch, then the world's largest coal camp, as a community for miners of Portal #31. At its height of operations in the 1940s, the mine employed more than 4000 people with the community being a virtual melting pot of people including some 38 different nationalities. Visitors can experience the mine by taking the underground mine tour to get insight into the experience of the miners who at one time worked there. In addition to the underground tour, the site includes a walking tour, a 1920s lamp house, bathhouse, and an on-site museum. First tour of the day starts at 10AM
the last tour of the day lines up at 4pm."

Called the “Niagara of the South," this state park is known for it's waterfall, Cumnberland Falls. this 125-foot curtain of water drops 60 feet, causing a mist on the boulders in the gorge below. The Western hemisphere’s only moonbow is a spectrum of color created by the moon’s reflection off the falls’ mist visible on a clear night during the full moon. Cumberland Falls is a hiker’s paradise with 17 miles of hiking trails that wind through the park to scenic areas. The Moonbow Trail connects with many backpacking trails in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Aviation Heritage Park

Aviation Heritage Park pays tribute to local aviators with six restored military aircraft. The outdoor park and new indoor museum, open to the public for free, seek donations for ongoing restoration. Highlights include the F-4D Phantom II 550, piloted by Brigadier General Dan Cherry in the Vietnam War, the Grumman F9F-5 Panther flown by Johnny Magda, a Korean War hero, and the Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star dedicated to Gen. Russ Dougherty. Other exhibits feature a USAF F-111 linked to Col. Arnie Franklin's leadership in the 1986 raid on Libya, a NASA T-38 Talon honoring astronaut Terry Wilcutt, and a UH-1 Huey Helicopter restored for Colonel Raymond T. Nutter. The museum, open Tuesday-Saturday, showcases additional artifacts, including a suspended Piper Cub honoring Willa Brown, the first African-American woman in the U.S. to earn a commercial pilot’s license.
